Golden State Warriors help transform lives of incarcerated men through coaching program
The Golden State Warriors' Twinning Project has transformed the lives of incarcerated men at Solano State Prison by equipping them with basketball coaching skills. Ray Woodfork, a former aspiring college player, opted for peace over violence, showcasing personal growth influenced by the program. Upon graduation, participants received certificates and jerseys, marking their achievements and aspirations. Many expressed newfound feelings of love and recognition, often absent during incarceration. The program fosters a sense of community and purpose, with participants committed to mentoring others.
Warriors Basketball Academy staff have also experienced profound changes, forming meaningful connections with the men. The initiative reflects a broader trend of using sports for rehabilitation, with other clubs showing interest. This collaboration exemplifies the power of mentorship and personal transformation in correctional settings.
