This cheerleading squad radiates pride and inspiration Meet CHEER SF

San Francisco, CALocal News

CHEER SF, an all-volunteer adult cheerleading team, has captivated audiences and raised funds for the LGBTQ community for 45 years. Established in 1980 during the HIV/AIDS crisis, the group initially began as the "Hayward Raw Rahs" to spread cheer among those affected. Their performances raise money for beneficiaries that support individuals living with HIV/AIDS, breast cancer, and other serious conditions. Coach Brittany Trammell highlighted the impact of their fundraising efforts through the Cheer for Life Foundation, which donates every year to aligned organizations. CHEER SF's success has inspired the creation of the Pride Cheerleading Association, helping similar teams form across the United States.

The team aims to amplify joy and pride while fostering a supportive community. As they look to the future, CHEER SF remains committed to being a beacon of love and hope for the LGBTQ+ community. Nguyen Pham, CHEER SF President Emeritus, stated that joy and cheer are always in short supply, and their mission is to ensure everyone feels seen and celebrated.
