The San Francisco Police Department arrested an employee and a patron during a raid on a corner store in the Tenderloin district suspected of illegal gambling and drug sales. The operation, conducted on the 200 block of Taylor Street, uncovered illegal gambling machines, unlicensed tobacco, and suspected narcotics, including cannabis and mushrooms. Authorities seized a loaded firearm and illegal weapons, including brass knuckles and a throwing star, which are prohibited under California law. The employee, 21-year-old Alaa Wadhah Abdo Alghaithi, faces multiple charges, including possession for sale of a controlled substance and operating a drug house. This incident is part of a broader enforcement strategy by the SFPD targeting illegal activities in local liquor stores.

The police department has ramped up efforts to prosecute businesses engaging in such practices in the Tenderloin area. The ongoing investigation highlights the challenges law enforcement faces in addressing crime in this neighborhood.
