Scripps Mercy Hospital and Anthem Blue Cross Contract Resumed Amid HMO Member Challenges

San Diego, CALocal News

Scripps Mercy Hospital and Anthem Blue Cross have extended their contract until September 2026, allowing patients to return to Scripps doctors after a previous lapse. Many HMO members are struggling to reassign their primary care providers back to Scripps, with reports of unresponsive Anthem representatives. Scripps asserts it has provided all necessary information to Anthem to facilitate these transitions, while Anthem admits that reloading Scripps into its system can take time. Patients with PPO or EPO plans are not facing the same issues, as they do not require primary care assignments. Anthem has not disclosed the number of affected HMO members.

Patients seeking to re-enroll at Scripps are directed to contact Anthem directly.
