The City of San Antonio's Mayor and City Council have unanimously approved a substantial budget of $3. 96 billion for Fiscal Year 2025, which aims to enhance key community services while achieving greater efficiency. Mayor Ron Nirenberg emphasized the budget's alignment with resident priorities, thanking City Manager Erik Walsh for his leadership. The budget allocates resources for various community needs, including 41,170 spay/neuter surgeries, 1,618 street maintenance projects, and support for 500 homeless individuals. Additionally, it provides funding for 65 new police officers, 14 positions in Animal Care Services, and 15 firefighter positions to improve emergency response.

A notable feature is the six-year Capital Plan, which includes a $1. 6 billion investment for a new terminal at San Antonio International Airport and $125 million for a larger parking garage. The City has managed to maintain a minimum 15 percent General Fund ending balance while keeping public safety spending below 66 percent of the General Fund. Notably, this budget marks the 32nd consecutive year without an increase in the city tax rate. The City’s strong financial management has been recognized with high bond ratings from agencies such as Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s, reflecting its solid fiscal health.
