San Antonios historic Gunter Hotel reopens after 57 million renovation
The Gunter Hotel in San Antonio has reopened after a $57 million renovation, restoring its historic charm while incorporating modern luxury. The project, led by the award-winning DLR Group, revitalized the 116-year-old property, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s Tribute portfolio. Guests can now enjoy a redesigned lobby, 311 modernized rooms, and over 20,000 square feet of flexible meeting space. Hotel owner Jiwon Choi highlighted the team's dedication to honoring the hotel’s legacy while enhancing the guest experience. The renovation also includes a rooftop pool, a 24/7 fitness center, and a recording studio that pays homage to Robert Johnson, who recorded at the hotel in 1936.
The addition of a 900-album vinyl library further emphasizes the hotel's connection to music history. The Gunter Hotel aims to provide an unforgettable experience for both locals and visitors. After being closed for approximately 12 months, the hotel is set to become a new focal point in downtown San Antonio.
