Germantown Man Arrested for Auto Theft

On February 4, 2024, the Rockville City Police Department arrested Phillip Andrew Murray, a 31-year-old man from Germantown, for auto theft following a suspicious person report at Ulta Beauty on Rockville Pike. Upon arrival, officers confronted Murray as he attempted to enter a Toyota passenger car, which was found to have stolen registration plates. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle itself had been stolen from Germantown, Maryland, and that additional stolen goods from Dick’s Sporting Goods were located inside. Murray resisted arrest but was eventually taken into custody and transported to Shady Grove Hospital for evaluation. Notably, he had multiple outstanding arrest warrants, including charges for Second Degree Escape and Possession of CDS with Intent to Distribute.
