Rockville Police Conduct Traffic Safety Initiative

The Rockville City Police Department conducted a focused traffic safety initiative on February 14, 2024, targeting key areas on Veirs Mill Road and Rockville Pike. This initiative was designed to enhance traffic safety and promote pedestrian awareness among residents. The Traffic Enforcement Unit employed data on crashes and enforcement, alongside citizen complaints, to strategically allocate police resources to areas with higher risks. During the four-hour operation, officers issued a total of 23 traffic citations and provided 35 written warnings, emphasizing the importance of compliance with traffic laws. Additionally, they distributed 12 pedestrian safety brochures, furthering their educational outreach to the community.
