Rockville Police Investigate Stabbing

On May 10, 2024, the Rockville City Police Department was alerted to a stabbing incident reported shortly after 5:00 p. m. in the 300 block of N. Washington Street. Officers arrived to find a 78-year-old male victim suffering from a stab wound to his upper torso.

He was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where he is reported to be in good condition with non-life-threatening injuries. The incident took place outside a local business, but the motive behind the attack remains unclear as the investigation continues. Police have described the suspect as an African American male with a thin build, dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt, black jeans, and a black mask, who fled the scene on foot. Detectives are actively canvassing local businesses for potential witnesses and surveillance footage that may assist in identifying the suspect. The Rockville Police Department is asking the public for any information regarding the incident, encouraging them to reach out to Detective Sergeant Daniel Romeril via email or phone.
