Seattle principal resigns following DUI, reckless driving arrest

Renton, WALocal News

Ray Garcia-Morales has resigned from his position as principal of Chief Sealth International High School due to serious allegations stemming from a DUI arrest and a domestic violence incident. Vice Principal Hope Perry will assume the principal role following Garcia-Morales' leave, which began in early February when the allegations surfaced. The Seattle Public Schools district had placed Garcia-Morales on administrative leave while investigating the circumstances surrounding his arrest, which reportedly involved threatening behavior towards a woman in a car. A police report detailed an alarming incident where Garcia-Morales allegedly grabbed the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to flip. Despite the gravity of the situation, court records reveal that no charges were filed against him, and the case is now closed.

The school district communicated the situation to families and staff, emphasizing the confidentiality of personnel issues. FOX 13 Seattle has reached out for further comments and information but has not received any response from Garcia-Morales. This leadership change at Chief Sealth International High School underscores the significant impact of personal conduct on educational institutions.
