Renton man arrested for child porn faces multiple charges, KCSO looking for more victims

Renton, WALocal News

Kevin McFarland, a 49-year-old Renton man, has been charged by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office with multiple sex crimes, including sexual exploitation of a child and communicating with minors for immoral purposes. Investigators believe his inappropriate behavior may have started as early as 2016, involving attempts to videotape women and children in compromising situations. The case was initiated after a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted law enforcement to McFarland's activities. Authorities have disturbing video evidence showing McFarland engaging with underage girls while asking for directions, which often led to lewd requests. He is a registered sex offender with a history of serious sexual offenses, including indecent exposure and second-degree rape of a child.

The King County Sheriff's Office is actively seeking additional victims who may have encountered McFarland, emphasizing the importance of protecting vulnerable individuals. His bail has been set at $250,000, reflecting the gravity of the charges. Community members are encouraged to report any suspicious behavior to help ensure the safety of children in the area.
