Richard Sherman charged in 2024 DUI arrest in Renton, WA

Richard Sherman, the former Seattle Seahawks cornerback, faces DUI charges after a February 2024 arrest on I-405 in Renton, Washington. King County prosecutors filed the charge after Sherman’s blood test revealed a blood/alcohol level of 0. 11. The arrest occurred around 2 a. m.

when troopers observed Sherman speeding in the HOV lane at 84 mph. Upon contact, troopers noted signs of intoxication, including bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. Sherman claimed to have only had two margaritas but became argumentative during field sobriety tests and refused a breath test. After being arrested, he was taken to Overlake Hospital for blood collection and later booked into King County Jail with a bail of $5,000. Notably, Sherman has a prior DUI arrest from 2021, raising concerns about his behavior.

He is scheduled for arraignment on June 30, where he will enter a plea.
