State financial assistance available to those severely impacted by the November bomb cyclone

Redmond, WALocal News

The Individual Assistance program in Washington State is providing crucial financial support for individuals and families whose homes were severely impacted by the November bomb cyclone and windstorm. This program is particularly significant for those whose residences are classified as having major damage, such as only the foundation remaining or experiencing severe structural failures. Households earning below 80% of the area's median income are eligible for assistance, which can cover costs for extended sheltering and necessary home repairs. Residents are encouraged to apply online at the Small Business Administration (SBA) website, with in-person assistance available at Disaster Loan Outreach Centers in Renton and Bellevue until February 21, 2025. These outreach centers will help applicants navigate the application process and answer any questions.

It is important to note that the centers will be closed on February 17 for the Presidents Day holiday. Individuals who reported damage and believe they qualify for assistance but have not submitted a damage survey are advised to reach out via the provided email. The ongoing support from state programs underscores the commitment to helping communities recover from natural disasters.
