In a proactive move to safeguard flood-prone areas, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has launched a demolition drive against illegal commercial constructions within blue flood zones. The initiative began on September 24, following a comprehensive survey of constructions near the Pavana, Mula, and Indrayani rivers. The Encroachment Department has prioritized the removal of 27 unauthorized structures, focusing on compliance with safety regulations. Notably, the B regional office witnessed the demolition of 5,500 square feet of illegal constructions, while the D office reported the dismantling of approximately 16,000 square feet of unauthorized brick and tin structures. The operation involved a collaborative effort from municipal officers, police personnel, and laborers, utilizing heavy machinery for effective execution.

The PCMC aims to continue this effort to mitigate flood risks and protect public safety in vulnerable areas. This action underscores the corporation's commitment to upholding urban planning regulations and ensuring community welfare.
