Idaho higher ed enrollment increases across state
All eight public colleges and universities in Idaho reported enrollment increases this fall, resulting in a statewide rise of 4. 2%. Boise State University recorded a 4. 6% increase, while College of Eastern Idaho led with a 10. 2% rise.
The total headcount reached 89,073, showcasing a recovery from a 19. 1% decline since fall 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. College leaders emphasized notable achievements, including record freshman classes and significant enrollment milestones at several institutions. Although a future demographic decline is anticipated, Idaho's current enrollment figures remain strong, outpacing national trends. A report from the National Student Clearinghouse indicated a 2% increase in national higher education enrollment, with Idaho's figures exceeding this average.
Colleges must submit fall enrollment reports by October 15, and this data is crucial for future planning. The continued growth in enrollment underscores the resilience of Idaho's higher education system.
