Beautiful Day is using granola to support refugees in RI. How the program works
Beautiful Day, a nonprofit in Providence, Rhode Island, empowers refugees by providing job training programs aimed at securing permanent employment. Over the past year, 99 refugees participated in its programs, with an impressive 86% finding jobs after graduation. The organization focuses on fostering community connections as a measure of success, aiming to combat stereotypes and misinformation about refugees. Its four training programs cater to diverse groups, including Afghan women and youth, addressing barriers such as limited English skills and emotional challenges. Despite these achievements, Beautiful Day grapples with challenges posed by the current immigration climate, which jeopardizes the safety of its participants.
The nonprofit has supported over 400 refugees since its founding in 2012, helping individuals from 14 nationalities and 20 ethnicities. Through outreach activities, the organization has engaged over 130,000 people in the past year, promoting positive interactions between refugees and the community. Beautiful Day's unique approach highlights the importance of tailored support for refugees often excluded from other job training opportunities.
