The Conjuring House to be sold at Halloween foreclosure auction
The Conjuring House in Burrillville, Rhode Island, will be auctioned on Halloween due to foreclosure after owner Jacqueline Nuñez failed to keep up with mortgage payments. Scheduled for 11 a. m. on October 31, the auction requires a $25,000 deposit from the winning bidder. Comedian Matt Rife, previously interested in acquiring the property, may have the chance to place a bid.
Nuñez bought the house in 2022 and opened it as a tourist attraction, offering tours and overnight paranormal investigations. However, her management faced allegations of financial irregularities, culminating in the town council revoking the business license in 2024. The house became famous through "The Conjuring" film, which told the story of the Perron family's haunting in the 1970s. The property gained further attention after Rife announced the purchase of the former home of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. Rife and his business partner, Elton Castee, are now custodians of the Warrens' collection of paranormal artifacts, including the infamous Annabelle doll.
