RIDOT announces construction schedule for Wickford mini roundabout. What to know
Rhode Island's Department of Transportation (RIDOT) will commence construction on a mini roundabout in Wickford on September 14, with a completion target of October 31. The roundabout will be located at the intersection of Brown Street, Boston Neck Road, and Phillips Street. To minimize traffic disruption, construction will be conducted overnight from 9 p. m. to 6 a.
m. on Sunday through Thursday. The estimated cost of the project is $2. 5 million, which will include the installation of new sidewalks, curb ramps, and drainage systems. Despite earlier opposition from some residents, town leaders advocated for the roundabout, emphasizing its potential benefits for traffic flow.
During the day, normal traffic patterns will resume, but overnight detours on Brown Street will be necessary. This project follows the completion of a waterfront improvement initiative that included a new seawall and repaved public parking. RIDOT will update detour information on its website as construction progresses.
