A coveted political position in Superior Court will open up. What to know.
Marisa P. Brown will retire from her position as Superior Court Administrator after 34 years in state government, with her last day scheduled for October 15. She led the court for nearly eight years and was instrumental in maintaining operations during the COVID pandemic, ensuring continued access to justice. Brown is well-known for exposing a scandal involving the Institute for International Sport, where significant financial mismanagement led to a state police investigation and the conviction of its founder for embezzlement. Her current salary stands at $205,049, as confirmed by judiciary spokeswoman Lexi Kriss.
In a farewell letter, she thanked her colleagues for their support and guidance throughout her career. Ryan Carnes, the son of Superior Court Judge William E. Carnes, Jr. , will assume the role of acting administrator. Brown previously worked as an assistant state court administrator for employee relations since 2009.
Her retirement marks a significant transition in the leadership of the Superior Court.
