The Street Services Coordination Center (SSCC) reported assisting 44 individuals seeking shelter referrals last week, with 29 accepting offers and only 8 utilizing a shelter bed for at least one night. Since April 2022, the SSCC has facilitated over 7,400 shelter referrals, aiding nearly 2,400 individuals in accessing shelter. In collaboration with agencies such as Fire & Rescue and Multnomah County, the SSCC removed 185 campsites considered hazardous to health and safety. During the week of June 9-15, 2025, the program received 2,470 campsite reports, including 840 related to individuals living in vehicles. Approximately 750 campsites were assessed, with the SSCC engaging directly with those residing there and coordinating resource referrals.

The initiative seeks to minimize homelessness impacts while promoting long-term housing access. This collaborative approach reflects Portland's ongoing commitment to addressing homelessness compassionately. The data underscores the city's challenges and efforts in managing homelessness effectively.
