Nodoguro embraces new era in downtown Portland

Portland, ORLocal News

Nodoguro, a top Japanese fine-dining destination in Portland, opens its new downtown restaurant on June 5, 2025, in the historic Morgan Building. Chef-owner Ryan Roadhouse initially resisted the move but embraced the downtown's revitalization momentum, citing developments like the James Beard Public Market. The new location features a full kitchen and a larger dining area, enabling a more dynamic dining experience. Roadhouse will offer two modern kaiseki tracks, including a 15-course sousaku menu starting at $195. The restaurant's design pays homage to Japan's Taishō era, with deep jewel tones and art deco influences.

Patrons will begin their meal with a glass of bubbles in the lounge before transitioning to the dining area for table service. The previous Nodoguro location will become Peter Cat, focusing on izakaya-style dining. Starting next month, guests can book reservations through OpenTable, enhancing accessibility.
