Everyday Heroes Nonprofit campaign for hospice patients is a success
Positive Charge! PDX completed its Stitches for Hospice campaign, collecting 223 clothing protectors and 101 catheter bag covers for hospice patients in Portland. The nonprofit called on the community to knit, sew, or crochet these items, establishing collection boxes across the city. Hospice nurse Janelle Wade emphasized the importance of these donations, stating they help preserve dignity for patients facing significant life changes. Contributors often included personalized notes, sharing their experiences and motivations, many in honor of loved ones lost in hospice care.
This initiative not only aids patients but also strengthens community ties, as participants connect through shared acts of kindness. Positive Charge! PDX's efforts exemplify how local organizations can foster compassion and support in challenging times. The campaign highlights the need for such resources in hospice care, reinforcing the role of community involvement in addressing health care needs. Recognized as an Everyday Hero, Positive Charge!
PDX continues to inspire local engagement and generosity.
