Clackamas County retail crime mission leads to 25 arrests, 4,700 recovered
The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office recently led a comprehensive operation to tackle retail crime, resulting in 25 arrests and the recovery of over $4,700 in stolen merchandise. This 10-hour mission specifically targeted retailers at the Clackamas Promenade, including well-known stores like Target and Nordstrom Rack. Among those apprehended was a minor caught with a handgun during a theft-related arrest, underscoring the serious nature of these crimes. Investigators also discovered an active fencing operation, revealing the complex networks behind organized retail theft. This operation was partially funded by the Organized Retail Theft Grant Program, which allocated $686,000 to enhance law enforcement capabilities.
In collaboration with multiple police departments, the Sheriff's Office aims to dismantle these criminal activities effectively.
