Portland, ORLocal News

A routine traffic stop in north Salem early this morning resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of drugs and a gun. The driver, 37-year-old Michael Martin Trevino, was taken into custody for driving without a license and had an outstanding warrant against him. Meanwhile, passenger Justin David Tickell, 41, was cited for possession of methamphetamine and released at the scene. The third passenger, Gavino Manuel Rocha, 28, initially resisted arrest but was subsequently apprehended. Officers discovered a handgun, nearly eight ounces of methamphetamine, and cash on Rocha, who now faces multiple charges, including possession of a firearm as a felon and unlawful drug distribution near a school.

This incident underscores ongoing issues with drug-related crime in the Salem area. Trevino has since posted bail, while Rocha is scheduled for arraignment on March 31 at the Marion County Circuit Court Annex. The police's proactive measures during this traffic stop highlight their commitment to addressing public safety concerns.
