Volunteers honor, remember veterans during annual Wreaths Across America placement day

The Wreaths Across America event on December 14 at Willamette National Cemetery drew over a hundred volunteers who honored veterans despite challenging weather. Participants placed wreaths at the graves of thousands of veterans, contributing to a national initiative that resulted in over three million wreaths placed globally this year. Volunteers of all ages participated, demonstrating a collective respect for military service. Each wreath placement was accompanied by the volunteer speaking the veteran's name aloud, adding a personal touch to the memorialization. The Oregon City VFW Honor Guard's musket salute enhanced the solemn atmosphere of the event.

This gathering underscores the importance of remembering veterans' sacrifices and the vital role of community involvement in honoring them. Wreaths Across America continues to inspire community participation in recognizing military service members.
