Portland man arrested after 86-year-old man stabbed in Fred Meyer parking lot

In a shocking incident in Clackamas County, Oregon, a 31-year-old man named Jesus Ascencio-Molina was arrested for allegedly stabbing an 86-year-old man in a Fred Meyer parking lot on December 28, 2024. The elderly victim was targeted while unloading groceries from his car when the suspect approached him with the intent to steal the vehicle. Witnesses reported seeing the victim calling for help during the attack, prompting a quick response from deputies. Upon arrival, they found the victim had been stabbed multiple times and immediately provided life-saving first aid before he was transported to the hospital. The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office has not released information regarding the victim's current medical condition.

Ascencio-Molina was located and arrested nearby shortly after the incident and is being held at the Clackamas County Jail without bail. He faces serious charges, including first-degree robbery and attempted murder, raising concerns about safety in public spaces and the vulnerability of elderly individuals in the community.
