The Washington State Patrol is investigating a pedestrian fatality that occurred on December 27 on SR-500 in Clark County. Emergency responders were dispatched just after 5 p. m. to the scene where a 53-year-old man from Vancouver was struck while standing in the westbound lane. The vehicle involved hit the pedestrian and collided with a tree before coming to rest in a ditch.

The 20-year-old driver from Yacolt was wearing a seatbelt and fortunately sustained no injuries. Authorities have not released the name of the deceased pending family notification, highlighting the sensitivity of the situation. This tragic incident raises ongoing safety concerns for pedestrians on busy roadways.
