The accident involved Blomquist's vehicle colliding with another car, which led to him losing control and crossing the median into oncoming traffic. There, he crashed head-on into a box truck, which subsequently collided with a dump truck. The Washington County Sheriff's Office confirmed that another individual involved in the crash was seriously injured but is expected to survive. Family members of the deceased driver have requested privacy during this difficult time.

After the crash, all lanes of Highway 99 were closed for several hours but have since been reopened, with authorities advising drivers to use alternative routes as traffic clears.
