Customers unable to get deposit reimbursed after Portland's 1927 S’mores Company suddenly closes

Portland, ORLocal News

The 1927 S’mores Company, a popular establishment in downtown Portland known for its gourmet s’mores, has unexpectedly closed, leaving many customers in distress. According to a letter sent by the former chief operating officer, Rod Patterson, the company will remain closed indefinitely. Several brides who had booked the company for their weddings were left shocked and disappointed, with some, like Shanndi Bywater, losing deposits of up to $300. Another bride, Ashley Fisher, expressed her frustration over losing a $450 deposit and her anger at being left to find a new vendor on short notice. The abrupt closure has not only impacted the brides but has also raised concerns among customers about the reliability of other wedding vendors.

Bywater shared her anxiety about planning future events, questioning whether she should opt for smaller or larger alternatives. The owner, James Kelly, has not returned calls or provided further information about the closure. This situation highlights the challenges faced by customers when small businesses fail unexpectedly.
