The Street Services Coordination Center in Portland reported assisting 86 individuals with shelter referrals last week, with 44 accepting the offers and 21 utilizing a shelter bed. Since April 2022, the program has provided a total of 8,607 referrals to those experiencing homelessness. The Impact Reduction Program received 2,070 new campsite reports last week, including 747 related to people living in vehicles. Assessment teams evaluated approximately 995 sites, engaging with residents where possible. Teams visited 614 active campsites, collecting garbage and biohazardous materials.

The program removed 138 campsites that posed health and safety risks, safely storing campers' personal property. This collective effort involves multiple city agencies and aims to address immediate needs while promoting long-term housing solutions. The approach reflects a compassionate response to homelessness, balancing immediate action with future housing access.
