Call for artists Submit for the CityFleet mural or low relief artwork by January 5
The City of Portland is opening a call for artists to design a mural or low relief artwork at CityFleet facilities on Swan Island, with a budget not exceeding $45,000. Submissions are due by January 5, 2026, and artists can propose designs for walls totaling approximately 178 linear feet. The project site is historically significant, having transitioned from the Kerby Garage to an existing warehouse on Swan Island, a location important to both industry and Indigenous communities. The artwork should enhance the environment, contributing to a sense of well-being and reflecting the site's industrial heritage. Artists are responsible for the entire process, including design, materials, and installation.
The project aligns with the City of Portland's Percent for Art Program, which allocates funds for public art from infrastructure project budgets. Additionally, artists are encouraged to apply for two related opportunities by November 24, 2025, involving functional gates and a large-scale sculpture. This initiative emphasizes the essential role of CityFleet in Portland's infrastructure and community functions.
