Intent to Request Release of Funds Healthy Homes Production Program
The Portland Housing Bureau plans to submit a request to the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the Healthy Homes Production Program, targeting health and safety interventions in 110 housing units. The program will prioritize units with children under five and those containing lead dust hazards, as well as units with elevated radon levels and moisture damage. The Bureau seeks $2 million, with approximately $950,000 earmarked for grants averaging $8,000 per unit for remediation.
Written comments on the Environmental Review Record must be received by 5pm on November 24, 2025. The program will also engage with community organizations to enhance outreach, particularly for families with limited English proficiency. Staff will handle application processing, risk assessments, and relocation assistance as needed. The program is expected to comply with various environmental laws while addressing health hazards in these homes. In total, the Healthy Homes Production Program represents a significant investment in improving housing conditions for vulnerable populations in Portland.
