The Street Services Coordination Center (SSCC) in Portland reported significant activity in its ongoing efforts to assist the homeless population. Last week, 74 individuals sought shelter referrals, with 35 accepting and 12 spending at least one night in a shelter. From November 3-9, 2025, the Impact Reduction Program received 2,087 new campsite reports and assessed approximately 690 sites. The team observed 452 active campsites and removed 159 that posed health and safety risks. This initiative, which includes collaboration with the Impact Reduction Program, Fire & Rescue, police, and Multnomah County, emphasizes compassionate outreach.

Since April 2022, the SSCC has facilitated 8,484 shelter referrals. The ongoing challenges of homelessness in Portland highlight the need for continued support and innovative solutions. Community engagement remains crucial as the city works towards expanding access to safe, affordable housing.
