Digital Services wins national award for innovation

Digital Services will accept the Innovation in Constraints Award at the 2025 Digital Service Champions Awards for enhancing the user experience of Portland's permitting website. Presented by U. S. Digital Response, the award recognizes teams that achieve meaningful public improvements despite budgetary and regulatory challenges. Digital Services simplified complex permitting information through user collaboration, creating new webpage templates and interactive guides.

These efforts resulted in a more navigable and understandable site while preserving regulatory accuracy. A subject matter expert called the new project guide "groundbreaking," emphasizing its significance. Digital Services thanks the Bureau of Technology Services leadership and the Permitting & Development team for their collaborative efforts. As the project wraps up, Digital Services plans to continue supporting Permitting & Development and build further partnerships. This recognition underscores the importance of human-centered design in public service delivery.
