The Street Services Coordination Center (SSCC) reported significant activity from October 20-26, 2025, addressing homelessness in Portland. The SSCC received 2,274 campsite reports, including 810 related to people living in vehicles, which led to the removal of 143 sites posing health risks. During this period, 58 individuals expressed interest in shelter referrals, with 40 accepting and 22 using shelter beds for at least one night. Since April 2022, the center has assisted over 8,300 people with shelter referrals and 2,647 individuals have utilized a shelter bed. The Impact Reduction Program works collaboratively with local agencies, including fire, police, and parks departments, to minimize homelessness impacts while promoting long-term housing solutions.

This initiative emphasizes empathy and innovation in addressing the challenges faced by those living outdoors. The SSCC's ongoing efforts reflect a commitment to public safety and community health in Portland. By streamlining services and focusing on high-risk areas, the program aims to create a safer environment for all residents.
