Call for artists Submit for the CityFleet Art Opportunity by November 24

Portland, ORLocal News

The City of Portland and the Regional Arts & Culture Council are calling for artists to submit proposals for public art at the new CityFleet facilities on Swan Island. Artists can apply for two opportunities: creating artwork for aluminum gates and a large-scale sculpture, each funded with a budget of $150,000. The relocation of CityFleet from the historic Kerby Garage, built in 1922, to a renovated warehouse reflects a significant infrastructure change. The artwork aims to create an inviting atmosphere and honor the area's industrial and cultural history. Swan Island has historical importance for both Portland's industry and Indigenous peoples, including the Multnomah and Clackamas tribes.

Submissions are due by November 24, 2025, as part of the City of Portland's Percent for Art Program, which allocates 2% of qualifying projects for public art. This initiative not only enhances the aesthetic of public spaces but also recognizes the contributions of essential city functions. It underscores Portland’s commitment to art and culture within urban development.
