The City of Portland will allocate $2. 8 million in General Operating Support grants to 79 local arts organizations for the fiscal year 2025-26. Mayor Keith Wilson emphasized the critical role these organizations play in revitalizing downtown and enhancing community connectedness. In the fiscal year 2023-24, grantee organizations supported a workforce of 2,392 and served over 1 million Portlanders, including 202,196 K-12 students. Arts & Culture Director Chariti Montez highlighted the importance of stable funding, which offers flexibility for organizations to use the grants as needed.

This funding can cover various operational costs, ensuring that arts organizations remain viable during challenging times. The city is one of the region's largest arts funders, reinforcing its commitment to the arts community.
