The Julia West House is Now Open

The Julia West House opened 89 units of Permanent Supportive Housing in Downtown Portland, targeting seniors transitioning from homelessness. Developed by Community Development Partners, this 12-story mass timber tower incorporates supportive services from Northwest Pilot Project and NARA Northwest. The Portland Housing Bureau's investment includes electric heat pumps and above-code insulation to promote energy efficiency in construction. Residents can enjoy amenities like a rooftop terrace and community rooms, with essential services nearby. Since 2025, PHB has facilitated the opening of 888 affordable homes, with an additional 87 units on the horizon.

This project underscores the city's effort to address homelessness and provide sustainable housing solutions. The building, designed by Holst Architecture, emphasizes low-carbon construction while enhancing community living. Voter support for affordable housing initiatives continues to drive these developments forward.
