The Street Services Coordination Center in Portland reported significant efforts to address homelessness from September 22 to 28, 2025. Last week, 50 individuals sought shelter referrals, with 29 accepting the offers and 14 using shelter beds for at least one night. The Impact Reduction Program received 2,567 campsite reports, including 974 concerning individuals living in vehicles, and assessed 786 campsites. During this period, the team removed 137 campsites that posed health and safety risks, ensuring the safe storage of campers' personal belongings. This initiative involves collaboration among various city departments and agencies, demonstrating a compassionate approach to a critical social issue.

Since April 2022, the SSCC has provided over 8,100 shelter referrals. The program aims to minimize homelessness impacts while working towards long-term housing solutions. The data reflects ongoing challenges in Portland's homelessness crisis, necessitating continued action and support.
