Seattle Area Trans Women Are Being Attacked by Groups of Men

On September 2, three trans women were violently attacked by a group of men in Seattle’s Capitol Hill area. Madison Carstens, Michelle Caywood, and Denise Throckmorton were enjoying a night out when they encountered a group of six or seven men who began to harass them. The confrontation escalated quickly, resulting in Carstens suffering a concussion and a ruptured eardrum, while Caywood sustained a possible broken nose. Eyewitnesses reported that one assailant kicked Caywood in the head as they fled the scene. Local police are currently reviewing security camera footage to investigate the incident further.

Caywood expressed her shock at the violence, stating she had never felt unsafe in her neighborhood before. This assault highlights ongoing issues of violence against trans individuals, raising concerns about community safety. Advocates are calling for greater awareness and protective measures for marginalized groups in urban environments.
