On October 2, 2025, Portland's Office of Arts & Culture will host an exhibition opening for 21 newly acquired artworks for the Visual Chronicles of Portland collection at the City Gallery. This event celebrates the contributions of local artists, including Stephanie Buer and Jax Chow, who have been recognized for their impactful works. Eric Fredericksen, the Public Art Administrator, emphasized the importance of collaboration with the Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC) to foster public engagement with the collection. Established in 1985, the Visual Chronicle aims to capture the essence of Portland through artistic expression, currently showcasing 463 works by 270 artists. The collection is selected through a rigorous review process involving community input.

The City Gallery, previously known as the Installation Space, will focus on presentations from city collections, including the Visual Chronicle. This initiative is part of a broader effort to document the evolving identity of Portland over the past four decades. The exhibition reflects the city's dynamic social and urban landscapes, offering a glimpse into the artists' perspectives on Portland.
