Ohio mother to be charged in deaths of Amish father and son done in 'spiritual delusion'

Portland, ORLocal News

An Ohio mother is anticipated to be charged in the drowning deaths of her 4-year-old son, Vincen, and her husband, Marcus Miller, whose bodies were recovered from Atwood Lake. The mother allegedly drove their golf cart into the lake intentionally before making alarming statements about her son, prompting a police investigation. Authorities noted that she was suffering from a “spiritual delusion,” with Sheriff Orvis Campbell stating that the mother claimed to have given her son to God. The couple had reportedly jumped into the water earlier to demonstrate their faith, with Marcus returning to the lake and subsequently disappearing. A search led to the recovery of Vincen's body, followed by that of his father the next day.

Both Miller and his wife believed they were having divine communications, which investigators found concerning. Autopsies are set to determine the causes of death, which have not yet been made public. The tragic incident raises questions about mental health support within the community.
