The North/Northeast Housing Strategy has evolved into a $135 million initiative, significantly addressing the legacy of displacement in Portland since its launch in 2014. During a June 24 presentation to the Portland City Council, the Housing Bureau reported the completion of 563 affordable rental units and 42 affordable homeownership units. Director Helmi A. Hisserich praised the community's role in driving the strategy's success and highlighted ongoing developments, including 231 rental units and 78 homeownership units in progress. Additionally, the initiative has facilitated 1,109 home repair grants and 180 repair loans to assist residents.

Hisserich recognized key community leaders, including Leslie Goodlow and Dr. Steven Holt, for their vital contributions. The North/Northeast Housing Strategy has received national acclaim for its innovative approach to housing equity. This effort illustrates a commitment to reversing the impacts of displacement and fostering community resilience. Monthly public meetings allow for continued community engagement and dialogue.
