Portland, ORLocal News

Home Forward celebrated the completion of Dekum Court, an affordable housing project in Portland, on August 14, 2025. The initiative revitalized 40 existing affordable units and added 147 new homes, prioritizing family needs in the design. The development includes a community center, outdoor play areas, and community gardens, enhancing local amenities. Additionally, the project increased pre-school capacity by constructing two classrooms nearby. Notably, 63% of the units have two or more bedrooms, accommodating diverse family sizes, while 61 units are designated for extremely low-income households at 30% of the Area Median Income.

Funded by the Metro Housing Bond, Dekum Court is part of a larger effort to deliver over 2,150 affordable homes in Portland, with 946 already completed. This project not only addresses immediate housing shortages but also supports the community's overall development. The project was designed by LEVER Architecture, with Walsh Construction Co. as the general contractor.
