Police arrest armed robbery suspect after early morning heist at South Beach Grocery
Newport police arrested 31-year-old Joshawa Greenleaf Devries for an armed robbery at South Beach Grocery early Sunday morning. The incident occurred around 3:47 a. m. when Devries allegedly entered the store with a makeshift mask, displayed a handgun, and demanded cash and a specific pack of cigarettes. Officers arrested him later that morning at Highway 101 and SW Angle Street, charging him with first-degree robbery, menacing, unlawful use of a weapon, and second-degree theft.
He is currently held at the Lincoln County Jail as the investigation remains ongoing.
