Weekly Street Services report July 14-20, 2025

Portland, ORLocal News

The Street Services Coordination Center (SSCC) reported significant actions addressing homelessness in Portland from July 14-20, 2025. During this period, the SSCC received 2,534 campsite reports and removed 171 camps that posed health and safety risks. The center facilitated 37 shelter referrals, with 23 accepted and 14 individuals utilizing shelter beds for at least one night. The SSCC collaborates with city departments, including Fire & Rescue and Multnomah County, to streamline services and ensure a compassionate approach. Starting July 1, 2025, the City of Portland will no longer manage campsite removals on ODOT properties, shifting responsibility to ODOT.

Community members must report camps along highways directly to ODOT, which may result in slower responses. This policy change emphasizes the need for effective communication and resource management in addressing homelessness. The SSCC continues to focus on minimizing the impacts of homelessness while expanding access to safe, affordable housing.
