Pier Pool Open for Summer Fun

Portland, ORLocal News

The Pier Pool in St. Johns, Portland, reopened on July 17, 2025, after undergoing significant repairs funded by approximately $700,000 secured in late 2024. This beloved facility will serve the North Portland community until September 5, providing swim lessons and recreational activities. The pool had closed last year due to persistent water leaks and structural issues, necessitating extensive repairs, including replacing outdated plumbing and boilers. Portland Parks & Recreation detailed critical improvements, such as excavating the pool deck to assess plumbing, repairing large cracks, and improving drainage to reduce water loss.

In addition to plumbing replacements, the pool deck was repaired, and new fencing was installed. These renovations aim to ensure the pool remains functional and safe for community use. Furthermore, Portland Parks & Recreation is planning a new indoor aquatic center at Northgate Park, with construction expected to begin in 2027. This new facility will enhance recreational opportunities for the growing North Portland area.
