Mountain biker missing near Mount Hood, search efforts intensify

Clackamas County authorities intensified their search for Ralph Sawyer, a 52-year-old mountain biker who went missing after a trip near Mount Hood on July 11, 2025. Sawyer left home at 10 a. m. and was due back by 8:30 p. m.

, but when he did not return, the Sheriff's Office was alerted shortly after 10:30 p. m. Search teams quickly located his blue Kia Soul at Trillium Lake, finding his cell phone inside the vehicle. The search effort includes volunteers, ATVs, K9 units, drones, and a search plane from the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office. Sawyer stands 6 feet 1 inch tall with brown hair and was last seen wearing an orange bike helmet, a blue shirt, and black biking shorts.
