David Winter, a 63-year-old Albany resident, went missing on July 1, prompting a search after his vehicle was found abandoned on a secluded logging road near Snow Peak. The Linn County Sheriff's Office initiated an investigation, leading to extensive searches by Search and Rescue teams. On July 7, they recovered Winter's body at the bottom of a cliff in the Santiam State Forest, approximately 300 feet down. Authorities have yet to establish an official cause of death, but they do not suspect foul play. The incident remains under investigation as officials gather more information.
