Vancouver Lake advisory lifted as water quality improves, Lacamas Lake warning remains

Portland, ORLocal News

Clark County Public Health has lifted the advisory at Vancouver Lake following improved water quality, with toxin levels now within safe limits. However, the presence of harmful algae means that the public must remain cautious, as toxin levels could increase again under certain conditions. Swimmers are advised to look out for floating scum and avoid direct contact with affected water, while pets should not drink or come into contact with scum. In contrast, the advisory for Lacamas Lake remains active due to persistently elevated toxin levels, which have been monitored since June 4. Clark County Public Health emphasizes its commitment to monitoring both lakes and will conduct weekly water samples during ongoing algal blooms.

The situation illustrates the importance of public awareness regarding water quality and safety. Updates will be provided as conditions evolve, and more information is available on the Public Health website.
